| ![]() 20 years ago, in a seascape of countless islands shrouded in mist and robed in dense forests, Raven’s Brew Coffee came into being. This place was the legendary Alexander Archipelago, also known as Southeast Alaska. Raven’s Brew is now roasted not only in Ketchikan and Anchorage Alaska, but also in Tumwater Washington. We are a small, family-owned company dedicated to sourcing the world’s best coffee. Each batch of coffee is air roasted resulting in a distinct and superior flavor development, notably clean taste and an intense sweet, perfumey fragrance. Try our conventional coffees. How did you discover Raven’s Brew?“My wife and I were on our honeymoon cruise to Southeast Alaska, and sampled your marvelous offerings in Juneau, and made it our quest to find more. Little did I know then that my college classmate, Ray Troll, had developed some of the artwork for your products. Not only are we thrilled with the art, we're overjoyed with the coffee, particularly the Bruin Blend. The flavor and aroma is beyond what we'd ever hoped for, and we will continue to regard the coffee as one of the true indulgences we allow ourselves. Bravo!” “Once upon a time (about 1996), there was a magazine entitled ‘COFFEE’. The only issue I bought had a list of US roasters and Raven’s Brew was named. I figured a roaster named ‘Raven’s Brew’ had to be good and deserved a try, so I made my first order. Since then, I have pulled other coffee drinkers into my obsession mostly to defer shipping costs. Now, whenever good coffee comes up in conversation, I insist the other person try Raven’s Brew because there is none better.” “I was on a Princess cruise ship going to Alaska. The ship's coffee was awful, and it put me in a bad mood. Everytime I reached a port, I would search out a good cup of coffee. Ketchikan was where I experienced heaven with a Raven's Brew coffee! One sip of your coffee, and I started humming to myself and almost skipping down the road. I was revived!! I asked the clerk what brand the coffee was and went off to search around the town for bags of those beautiful beans. Who wants to pan for gold when Raven's Brew beans are out there to be found?? I bought as many as I could get through the airport with. (I even had one of the stores mail some home for me.) I was obsessed! I guarded those bags with my life. I didn't want to even show them to anyone. I knew they would want some of them, and sorry, I wasn't sharing. Once I hit the ground on the East coast, my mission was to get home to my computer and find out where I could buy those nirvana beans. I hit paydirt by typing in Raven's Brew, and placed my order. It should be here any day, thanks to your speedy service.” “We were moving away from Detroit in mid-2008 and had been wanting to visit a wonderful-sounding place in Port Huron, the Raven Cafe. We went there and really liked it, plus we decided to order a strange-sounding coffee called Deadman's Reach. We loved it (naturally) and bought a 12-oz. bag of the beans. Well; we've been addicted (whoops; I mean hooked) on it ever since....” —B. Bricton, Seattle, Washington “I was googleing ‘cat poop’ coffee to prove to co-workers that such a thing existed and one of the links I found was Raven's Brew's Kopi Luwak page with the little gif of the guy pulling the cat's tail and filling his mug with "coffee". I figured that a company that sells coffee and has a sense of humor like that must be on to something and was worth trying out their products. I have been a loyal customer ever since and I have been taking your fine coffee with me around the world, as no other coffee will do.” “The only thing stronger than ‘Deadman's Reach’ is the mighty hand of God and when He created Coffea Arabica, He said it is very good! (A Psalm of Jumi) The Lord is my Barrista: I shall not want. He maketh me to sit down in cafes: He leadeth me beside the pure waters. He restoreth my soul with Ravens Brew: He leadeth me in the paths of deliciousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Deadman's Reach, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy beans and thy french press they comfort me. Thou preparest a cup before me in the presence of others: thou anointest my brew with cream and sugar; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the cafe of the Lord forever. (based on Psalm 23)” “In 1993 I was a cadet on a tanker which used to bring gasoline to Ketchikan, AK. I had a few hours to walk around town, but since it was in Feb, there was nothing open. I saw a T-shirt in a shop window. ‘Last Legal High’ by Ray Troll. I had to have that shirt, and it's all I could think of until we came back a few months later with another shipment of gasoline. This time there was a small coffee shop open, still no tourist, and they had the shirt. I have to say, I still have the shirt as well as the original ‘Spawn Till You Die’ shirt I bought at the same time. Over the years I have gone all out to get shipments of Raven's Brew. That first taste of Dead Man's Reach was amazing! I have even had shipments sent to me while I was stationed in Iraq in 2006. Nothing else comes anywhere close. Thanks guys!” “The submarine I was assigned to made a port call in Ketchikan. I spent the night in the Cape Fox Lodge, and there was a Raven’s Brew Coffee shop in the lobby. After sampling the Dead Man's Reach, I was instantly hooked. I brought a bag of Dead Man's Reach, Three Peckered Billy Goat, and the Raven’s Brew House Blend back to the boat for the rest of the division to try. A majority of them were casual coffee drinkers at best; but after Raven’s Brew, they were hooked! Now they all drink it and constantly give it to family, friends, and random guests. Thank you for providing such an exquisite drinking experience!” “My husband and I took an Alaskan cruise for a second honeymoon, and being ‘coffee obsessed’, my husband indulged my search for unique local coffees. I had one sample of Raven’s Brew and I was hooked. I bought several bags to bring home with me. Next door to my work is a specialty food shop. The owner heard me talking about how wonderful your coffee is and placed an order the same day for her store!” “Back in the late 1990’s I was stationed in Ketchikan Alaska in the Coast Guard. I found Ravens Brew through a shop on Creek street, Ray Troll stuff and Raven's Brew. I started going up to the Industrial Park, a couple of storage units where the guys were roasting the brews. It smelled so YUMMY in there. I started buying it for the Coast Guard station. Loved the Deadman’s Reach the best. It was a great brew in the middle of the night before a long cold boat ride. I still drink it today (I am retired now) LOVE RAVENS BREW!” “I’m thinking it was 1989-ish. I lived in a remote village here in Alaska and we would go to Ketchikan for supplies. I went to the Five Star Cafe for lunch. I was never a coffee drinker. I drank quantities of tea, but did not ever drink coffee. BUT this day I did order a cup of coffee. I could not believe coffee could taste that good. I of course asked what it was. Raven’s Brew they said. And that was that. I have been drinking it ever since. I serve it in my B&B advertise it on my B&B web site and have never found a coffee to compare. In all these years I have not found a reason to switch. Thanks Raven’s for the great sip.” “We were stationed in Las Vegas, NV at the time. We used the money saved during his tour in Iraq to take a cruise to Alaska shortly after he returned home. He had been stationed in Fairbanks and loved it, and I had always wanted to go – so it was an amazing vacation. We were in Ketchikan, where we did an eagle watching excursion and then spent the afternoon exploring the town. My husband is horrible at waiting in long lines, and we had a huge one waiting to reboard the cruise ship late that afternoon. He spotted a cute little coffee stand right at the pier/dock with some amazing artwork, and decided a cup of coffee would hit the spot, so off he went. The coffee was soooooo amazing that we saved the cardboard cup sleeve and looked up the company when we returned to Vegas. We made a small order that included Deadman’s Reach, and as they say the rest is history. The cruise was in May 2005, and we have been devoted Raven’s Brew drinkers ever since. Rarely has there been another coffee brewed in our house – even while in England for three years (thank goodness RBC ships to APOs)! Definitely give Raven’s Brew a try – a sip will never disappoint, but a bag will most likely leave you addicted :)”
