“I built the business around Raven’s Brew Coffee®. And from all the support from the very beginning, I’ve grown to feel like Raven’s Brew is part of this little family.

Historic downtown Culpeper, Virginia offered the perfect venue and the layout of the building dictated the rest: open space, high ceilings, flooding sunlight. Good Coffee, good light, good people, and world music from the Putamayo Company. All we needed was good food. So I bake to the season, using as close to local as is possible. We have fresh scones daily: maple oat nut, blueberry, apple-walnut-cinnamon, almond or lemon poppy seed. But come October first, everyone wants pumpkin - pumpkin scones, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup and of course, everyone’s favorite: pumpkin lattes. November brings cranberry everything. December heeds ginger. Then we are into the dark set of winter and everyone wants full cream and stews and Shepherds Pie. And so it goes until the burst of spring brings rhubarb and strawberries and the Farmer’s Market.

Oh, how Saturday mornings at the Raven’s Nest warm the soul - everyone sitting around with laden baskets… The last Sunday of the month we host a Blue Grass Jam, which brings musicians from afar. All ages gather together for a couple of foot stompin’ hours of laughter and of course, great pots of fondue to add to the spirit.

The walls of the Nest are graced by local art. Presently, we have a series of watercolors by local artist Mary Allen of last summer’s Farmer’s Market. They are full of light and color and reflect the sense of community that Culpeper emits from our historical downtown. I can ramble on about this little corner of my world that I affectionately call “the nest” but the best way to experience Raven’s Nest Coffee House is to come on down. Everyone is welcome and there's always an ear and a kind word waiting.”
